Testimonials

"

I was invited by the agricultural extension officer to participate in a Seminar organised by Kijani Consult Tanzania. We were trained about climate change, climate adaptation, and greenhouse construction. I felt very happy when I heard this information because I had been wanting to get useful and understandable knowledge. After the training, we were told that Kijani Consult Tanzania would construct greenhouses in five wards, and one of those wards happened to be here in Buhalahala. I was so happy to the point I did not sleep that night because that was truly my dream for so long. Not long after, we started building the greenhouse. We then started growing crops, and not long after this, we were met with the first harvest. I think I was one of the first people to taste the tomatoes, and they were so tasty.

I am one of the beneficiaries of the Nanenane project. After gaining knowledge from Kijani Consult Tanzania, I have been able to farm in a small area and with a large amount of harvest. The reason for this is that I now grow crops that I can harvest for a long time. My fellow farmers and I participated in Farmers Day in Mbeya to gain knowledge, and afterwards, I was able to share the knowledge with my fellow community members so that we all could benefit from the learning and use it in our farming. Through Kijani Consult Tanzania, I have been able to learn about greenhouse construction and different methods of irrigation farming. These learnings have given me knowledge in farming on open fields and inside a greenhouse.

We have learnt how to sell our tomatoes after harvesting. I have learnt how to sell my produce both inside and outside of the Geita district via phone calls, texts, and social media. I see a big difference as a farmer, and I am very happy to have been given this opportunity. I can truly say that the project has benefited me. There were many things I did not know before the project, for example, how to construct a greenhouse, plant hybrid tomatoes, and farm without using chemicals. I can see that all of the activities from the Nanenane project have given me the knowledge to understand each essential part of the farming process.

I would like to thank Kijani Consult Tanzania for coming up with this project. Through this project, Kijani has constructed greenhouses that will be owned and managed by the youth. Since this project is so beneficial to the youth, we promise to support the youth financially and in securing farmland to continue implementing agricultural activities.
