About KIJANI

Kijani Consult Tanzania (abbreviated as KIJANI) was founded in 2015, initially as an art and environmental initiative. It has since evolved into a fully registered nonprofit organization (Registration No. 00NGO/R/4752), committed to promoting sustainable lifestyles and unlocking opportunities in sustainable agribusiness, food security, natural resource management, renewable energy, tourism, creative industries, and environmental conservation. At Kijani Consult Tanzania, our vision is to become a youth development organisation that empowers the youth by capacity building and information sharing through community-based initiatives. Our mission is to engage young people first-hand in community-based projects locally and internationally, with particular interest in the creative industries, entrepreneurship, health, agriculture, gender equality, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.

We translate our objectives into projects that address the effects of climate change and build resilience among affected people. Kijani aims at informing, educating, and inspiring communities on the best practices in agribusiness, climate change, and natural resources as drivers towards job creation, income generation, and sustainable livelihoods.

Kijani has experience with project management, organising awareness raising activities and has in the past worked in partnership with the National Social Security Pension Fund (NSSF), the Geita District Town Council and District Council, DIB Denmark, GGML, Goethe Institut and the Zanzibar International Film Festival, to provide training and capacity building to over 800 youth farmers, agri-preneurs in Geita district.

Kijani also provides consultancy services in the agriculture, climate change, and forestry sectors. One of the successful interventions happened between Kijani and the Forestry Value Chain Programme (FORVAC), where Kijani spearheaded the documentation and communication of success stories and best practices of sustainable forest management and promotion of forest-based economic business.

Strategic objectives

In working towards achieving our vision, mission, and goal, we focus on three strategic objectives, namely;

  1. To promote sustainable lifestyles and unlock potential in agribusiness, environment, natural resources, and tourism through creative industries (art) and information sharing.
  2. To inform, educate, and inspire communities on the best practices in Agribusiness, Environment, Natural Resources, and Tourism as drivers towards job creation, income generation, and sustainable lifestyles.
  3. To facilitate youth to acquire skills and competence for employment by offering vocational guidance, counselling, Self-reliance, and entrepreneurial education to inculcate enterprise culture among the youth and the elders.
